This vehicle is in the premium segment. It is an SUV coupé from Audi's sports range. The Audi RS Q8 has a whopping 600 hp, making it exceptionally powerful. Visually, however, it does not have the design of a classic sports car, but that of an SUV.
Its high horsepower enables it to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. The maximum torque is 800 Nm. The RS Q8 has a 4.0-liter V8 TFSI engine.
The average fuel consumption is 12.1 liters per 100 km. The car also has all-wheel drive. There is no need to change gears manually, as the Audi has an 8-speed automatic transmission with tiptronic. Despite its enormous power, the model is also fuel-efficient.
This is ensured by the 48-volt mild hybrid system. In addition, the cylinder on demand technology allows four cylinders to be switched off.
The Audi RS Q8 in testing
The Audi RS Q8 is a real powerhouse. The quattro sport differential can be activated as an option, allowing power to be distributed selectively to the wheels. The adaptive air suspension sport ensures a comfortable ride. In addition, driving pleasure is enhanced by the standard all-wheel steering, which maximizes driving stability.
Roll stabilization has been integrated to improve driving dynamics. This increases cornering stability in particular. The various driving modes can be changed at the touch of a button on the steering wheel.
The Audi RS Q8 is generally limited to 250 km/h. However, this limiter can be removed on request, raising the top speed to 305 km/h. The Audi RS Q8 is 5.01 m long, 2.00 m wide, and 1.70 m high. The wheelbase is 3.00 m.
The design of the Audi RS Q8
In terms of design, Audi has placed particular emphasis on expressing sporting pleasure. Classic RS elements have been incorporated. The rear in particular is sporty and striking. Typical of RS models are the glossy black carbon diffuser insert and the elongated RS tailpipes.
The exhausts are black-coated and one of the pipes is equipped with an exhaust flap. The roof edge spoiler is also characteristic of the RS. It is not only visually appealing, but also improves balance, especially at high speeds. The roof slopes downwards towards the rear and the wheel arches are extra wide.
The RS sill is in the same color as the car and runs around the vehicle. From the front, the Audi RS Q8 impresses with a particularly athletic bumper. The radiator grille has a honeycomb structure and particularly large air intakes, which are finished in glossy black.
The carbon front spoiler adds a special touch. The single-frame grille also shines with its high-quality carbon finish.
Audi RS Q8 interior
The interior design of the RS Q8 also reflects its sportiness. Here you will find clear structures and horizontal lines. The instruments have been designed to be particularly slim and the interior appears very spacious. The large center console, which is framed in high-quality carbon, immediately catches the eye. Overall, the A6, A7, and A8 sedans served as the model for the interior design.
The cockpit has two screens. The upper one is 10.1 inches in size, the lower one 8.6 inches. The upper screen is primarily used for navigation, while the lower screen is used to enter commands. These are entered via touch. Alternatively, commands can also be navigated via voice commands.
The Virtual Cockpit is fitted as standard with 12.3-inch digital instruments. The sound system is from Bang & Olufsen and is connected to 23 speakers, delivering the highest possible sound quality. The seats are sports seats as standard, made from a combination of leather and Alcantara with striking contrast stitching.
The characteristic RS logo is also embossed into the seats. The sports seats are not only a visual highlight, they also offer special lateral support and stability, especially when driving fast.
In addition to the standard Alcantara leather mix, the seats can also be designed in Valcona leather on request, which is characterized by a honeycomb-like quilting pattern. The design packages are available in gray and red, further emphasizing the sportiness of the model.
Wood and aluminum were the primary materials used in the interior, along with carbon fiber. The front windshield comes with double glazing as standard and can be ordered with a heating function on request. The side windows can be insulated as an option. The windows are generally frameless. The RS button on the steering wheel immediately catches the eye.
This is used to select the driving modes. The trunk is electrically controlled and the tailgate can also be opened using a foot control. A roll-up luggage compartment cover can be integrated on request.
However, the RS Q8 is not just a pure sports car. Rather, it combines sporty elements with relaxed everyday practicality. The model offers a particularly high storage volume of up to 1,755 liters.
The rear seats of the car are divided into three sections and can be moved as desired to create additional storage space. It is similar to the Audi Q7 in many respects, but is slightly shorter and wider and has a sloping rear. The overall appearance is significantly sportier and more aggressive. LED headlights are fitted as standard. Matrix LED headlights are also available as an option.
The turn signal is dynamic and follows a cascade pattern when the vehicle is opened and closed. You can choose between 22" or 23" rims. A light strip at the end of the rear extends across the back, creating an impressive effect. Front axle steering is also standard on the RS Q8. This provides a particularly direct driving experience.
The steering responds progressively, meaning that only small movements of the steering wheel are needed to change direction. On the road, the gasoline model is a very tightly tuned sports car, which is available with numerous additional options and packages such as blind spot warning, parking assist, and intersection assist.
It combines sporty driving with a comfortable family and travel vehicle that offers all the advantages of an SUV and is in no way inferior to a Porsche Cayenne Turbo. Priced above the 100,000 Swiss franc mark, this vehicle is an absolute luxury car.
